Sabah hospital sexual harassment case: MOH moves director out, complainant under treatment, PSD to decide next step

Kota Kinabalu, Aug 15 — The Health Ministry has concluded its internal probe into an alleged sexual harassment case at a Sabah hospital, transferring the implicated director to a medical role within the Sabah Health Department. Health Minister Datuk Seri Dzulkefly Ahmad announced these moves at a press conference following the ministry’s Training Institutes convocation at Universiti Malaysia Sabah.

The injured party has received adequate assistance and mental health care, returning to a more comfortable work situation, according to Dzulkefly. The final report from the department was forwarded to the Public Service Department (PSD) for their review, as the Ministry does not have jurisdiction over disciplinary actions based on the director's rank.

This case came to light recently through public statements by Kapayan assemblyman Chin Teck Ming and Sabah Warisan Health Bureau chief Dr Istefan Koh, who alleged misconduct by the hospital director. Sabah police commissioner Datuk Jauteh Dikun also confirmed that a police report was filed earlier this year. After completing its investigation, the Ministry has handed the case to the PSD for any additional disciplinary measures.
