PSG sign World Cup winner Torres from Barcelona

Paris St-Germain has secured the signature of Ferran Torres, the World Cup winner for Spain, from their city rivals Barcelona. The 26-year-old forward has committed to the French champions until 2031 in a deal worth approximately 50 million euros (£42.7m). Torres was instrumental in Spain's triumph at the World Cup, scoring the decisive goal in extra-time against Argentina.

His reputation has grown further after a stellar season at Barcelona, where he netted 21 goals in 49 appearances across all competitions, including three assists. During his time at Barcelona, the team secured the La Liga title. Paris St-Germain, led by former Barcelona coach Luis Enrique, have claimed the Champions League in the last two seasons.

Torres follows Maghnes Akliouche, another high-profile forward, who joined PSG from Monaco in the summer. The club also won the UEFA Super Cup against Aston Villa with a 2-1 victory. Torres joined Barcelona in 2022, following a two-year stint at Manchester City. He has scored 25 goals in 65 appearances for Spain, making his debut under former Barcelona player Luis Enrique. The club may soon lose Bradley Barcola, a forward with interest from Liverpool.
