PSG sign World Cup final match-winner Torres from Barcelona

Ferran Torres, the Spanish forward who scored the winning goal in the World Cup final against Argentina, has agreed to a long-term deal with Paris St-Germain. The 26-year-old striker has committed his future to the French champions until 2031, with a transfer fee estimated at around 50 million euros (£42.7m). Torres' move to Paris St-Germain follows his strong performance with Barcelona, where he played a crucial role in their La Liga title victory last season.

During his time in Spain, Torres netted 21 goals in 49 appearances across all competitions, including three assists, further solidifying his reputation as a key player. He joined Barcelona from Manchester City in 2022, amassing 25 goals in 65 appearances for his country. As Paris St-Germain's manager, former Barcelona boss Luis Enrique has overseen the team's success in recent years, lifting the Champions League trophy twice.

Torres' arrival at the club sees him become the second high-profile attacker to join Paris St-Germain in the summer, following the signing of Moroccan forward Maghnes Akliouche from Monaco. The Parisian side have recently clinched another silverware, defeating Aston Villa 2-1 to secure the UEFA Super Cup. Meanwhile, Paris St-Germain may face a potential loss if Bradley Barcola becomes available on the market, as the Brazilian forward is reportedly wanted by Liverpool.
