PM Modi delivers 13th Independence day speech as India marks 79 years of freedom

On India's 79th Independence Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered his 13th independence day address from the Red Fort in Delhi. The speech commenced with tributes to the "ultimate sacrifice" made by the great sons and daughters of the nation during the freedom struggle. Prime Minister Modi emphasized that these individuals dedicated their entire lives to the pursuit of freedom.

This year's celebration held special significance, as it marked the 150th anniversary of Vande Mataram, which was performed for the first time during the Independence Day festivities at the Red Fort. Upon his arrival at the venue, Modi was greeted by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, his deputy Sanjay Seth, and Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh.

The prime minister's speech underscored the crucial role of the youth in India's path towards a developed and prosperous nation by 2047, known as Viksit Bharat 2047. In addition to the national celebrations, state capitals and cities throughout India were staging their own events, including flag-hoisting ceremonies and cultural performances.
