Oyo police command nab 10 suspected human parts merchants, recover human parts, charms

The Oyo State Police Command has apprehended ten individuals suspected of dealing in human body parts, recovering what is believed to be a human heart, skull fragments and other remains during recent raids in Iseyin and Saki regions of the state. A statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer detailed how months of intelligence gathering and surveillance led to the arrests, made at various hideouts across the state.

The suspects, identified as Adam Ibrahim, Nasiru Kabiru, Tijani Wasiu, Abiola Nasiru, Amusa Gbadamosi, Raheem Taofeek, Jimoh Muritala, Suleiman Busari, Ganiyu Nurudeen and Usman Abdullahi, confessed during questioning to involvement in ritualistic dealings of human parts. Searches of their residences yielded the recovered body parts, including one suspected heart, human flesh, skull fragments and various charms.

The recovered items are being analyzed via forensic examination while investigators continue probing the source and motive behind the alleged activities. Police authorities are actively seeking additional members of the suspected syndicate. Oyo's Commissioner of Police, CP Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga, lauded the officers for the intelligence-led operation and vowed to continue combating crime while protecting human life in the region.

He encouraged citizens to remain alert and report any suspicious information to help prevent criminal activities.
