Police assure residents of security ahead Bauchi LG elections

The Bauchi State Police Command has pledged to provide comprehensive security measures before, during, and after the upcoming local government elections scheduled for Monday, August 17, 2026. Commissioner of Police Sani-Omolori Aliyu made this assurance known in a statement released by the command’s spokesperson, SP Nafiu Habib.

The police have meticulously planned their security arrangements across all 20 local government areas, aiming to ensure a peaceful, credible, and violence-free election process. Police officers have been strategically positioned to safeguard lives, property, and election materials throughout the state.

The police command has issued a stern warning against any electoral violence, ballot box snatching, thuggery, vote buying, selling, voter intimidation, or any other activities that could threaten the election process. They have stated that anyone involved in such actions, regardless of their status or affiliation, will be swiftly arrested and prosecuted.

Commissioner Aliyu emphasized that the police officers deployed for the election will maintain their professionalism and neutrality, respect human rights, and adhere strictly to the law. The police have urged eligible voters to exercise their right to vote without any fear, and have asked residents to report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station or through the police emergency hotline.
