#OsunDecides2026: No intimidation, Adeleke’s wife urges residents to vote

Ngozi Adeleke, the wife of Osun State Governor, has called on eligible voters throughout the state to participate in the ongoing governorship election. She made this plea on Saturday after herself casting her ballot and confirmed that voting was peaceful at her polling station. Ngozi urged those who had yet to vote to leave their homes and proceed to their respective polling units, emphasizing the importance of exercising their civic responsibility.

She reassured the public that there was no intimidation of any kind during the process. The governor's wife also appealed to Osun residents to take part in the electoral process, emphasizing that there was no rancor or fighting at her polling location. She stated authoritatively, "There's no rancour, there's no fight. There's no intimidation of any kind."

This appeal came as voters across the state turned out for the election. Earlier, Governor Ademola Adeleke, who is seeking re-election on the Accord Party platform, had also cast his vote. The election is taking place across the state's 30 local government areas, with Adeleke and other candidates vying for the electorate's mandate.

Concerns over security and alleged intimidation had been raised in the lead-up to the poll, with calls for a peaceful electoral process from political actors and civil society groups. Voting commenced on Saturday, with security personnel deployed to various parts of the state.
