Pink auto project empowers 10 women with financial independence

Under the Pink Auto project in Mysuru, ten autorickshaws were distributed to women on the eve of Independence Day, marking a new chapter in their lives. The Rotary Mysore Metro, in collaboration with Taliru Foundation and Automotive Axles, initiated this project to provide women with a sustainable livelihood and financial self-reliance, moving them away from poverty, abuse, and systemic hardships.

Mohan Gurumurthy, Project Chairman of the Pink Auto initiative, emphasized that the project aims to elevate women by offering them stable employment opportunities and self-respect. At a function held at Urs Gymkhana, the autos were presented to the beneficiaries, symbolizing true freedom or "Azadi," which means liberation from poverty and struggle.

The project covers all aspects of empowerment - from identifying eligible candidates through rigorous background checks to providing driving training, securing licenses, and aiding vehicle ownership. While the sponsoring organizations bear the initial cost, the remaining amount is covered through loans from nationalized banks or auto-finance partners.

Chitra of the Taliru Foundation highlighted that the project's core mission is to empower women with the necessary skills and assets to achieve financial independence and live with dignity. Esteemed guests, including members of various Rotary Clubs - Satish Bolar, Guru R., Asha Bhargavi, Ramaki, Vinayak, and Debdas Pandey from Automotive Axles Pvt. Ltd. - formally handed over the autos to the beneficiaries.
