#OsunDecides2026: Ex-minister decries slow BVAS performance

Former Minister of State for Police Affairs, Alhaji Jelili Adesiyan, voiced his dissatisfaction with the sluggish performance of the Independent National Electoral Commission’s Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) at his polling unit on Saturday. Adesiyan, who cast his vote at Unit 8, Ward 6, Lagere Idiose, Ode Omu, highlighted the lengthy process faced by the numerous voters in the queue, attributing it to the slow functioning of the machine.

He remarked, "The exercise is peaceful here. There have not been any problems, only that the BVAS is very slow." Presently, with nearly 1,000 people registered, many still waiting to vote, and the count of those who had already voted at past 2pm remained under 200. Adesiyan also expressed concern over elderly voters not being accurately recorded by the BVAS.

He proposed the need for an additional BVAS to expedite the voting process. Despite the delays, he reassured that every registered voter in line would be permitted to cast their ballot.
