Osun 2026: Voters turn out early in Adeleke’s hometown

In the Osun gubernatorial election, voters in Ede, Adeleke's hometown, began casting their ballots early on Saturday morning. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reported that vehicles carrying voters and youth corps members arrived as early as 6:30 am, eager to participate in the election process. Some voters even showed up at their designated polling units at 6:40 am, waiting for INEC officials to confirm their eligibility before casting their votes.

Security personnel were present throughout Ede North and South Local Government Areas, monitoring the situation in line with restrictions on vehicular movement. Local election observers were also stationed at various polling stations, keeping a watchful eye on the proceedings. The Osun Speaker's residence, a key political site, was heavily guarded by armed personnel, according to Adeleke's campaign.

As the election commenced, some polling units had already begun the accreditation process, while others were still waiting for the INEC officials to certify the eligible voters. Ede, the birthplace of the governorship candidate, Ademola Adeleke, of the Accord party, was the focal point of the campaigning activities.
