NPP polls: Makafui Woanya re-elected as Volta Regional Chairman

Delegates in the Volta Region have unanimously decided to retain Makafui Woanya as the regional chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) by endorsing his candidature in today's executive elections held in Ho. The incumbent chairman secured 169 votes, compared to Joseph Homenya's 148 votes. This victory solidifies Woanya's position to lead the party for another term, with the goal of strengthening his hold ahead of the 2028 general elections.

Despite facing allegations of tyranny, divisiveness, and oppression, Woanya emerged victorious in the fiercely contested elections. Speaking to the press, Woanya pledged to unite party members to foster synergy and work towards the party's collective benefit. He also warned the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), stating that they intend to intensify efforts against the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Volta Region to garner more votes.

"We are going to put our house in order," Woanya declared, adding that concentrating on presidential votes will help propel the NPP flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, to victory in the 2028 elections. He further explained that the NDC's inability to deliver on promises, such as the 24-hour economy, has led to people voting against the NDC in the 2028 elections.

"Ghanaians are now realizing that they have to go back to the NPP because that is the only way they can survive," he emphasized. The regional chairman, along with his vice-chairmen and other regional officials, will focus primarily on the presidential campaign, recognizing its significance in contributing to national votes.
