Newcastle progressing with move for Benfica defender Dedic

Newcastle United have entered advanced negotiations with Benfica to acquire defender Amar Dedic. The club is seeking a new right-back following Kieran Trippier's departure for Wolves. Dedic, 23, previously played under Newcastle boss Matthias Jaissle at RB Salzburg and was a key player in the team that secured the Austrian Bundesliga title in 2023.

Newcastle is reportedly making progress in discussions with Benfica for the Bosnia and Herzegovina international, who is reportedly valued at £30m. If the transfer materializes, Dedic could make an immediate impact for Newcastle in their opening match against Liverpool on August 23rd, as Tino Livramento is still recuperating from a calf injury sustained during England's World Cup campaign.

Dedic has earned 31 caps for Bosnia and Herzegovina and started three of their four World Cup matches. He was the second-ranked full-back in Portugal's Primeira Liga last season in terms of carries into the attacking third (49), third in progressive carries (202), and third in total carries (325).
