“My tenure was difficult because I didn’t get support from NPP elders” – Greater Accra Chairman

Divine Otoo Agorhom, the departing Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has revealed that his tenure was challenging due to insufficient backing from the party's elders. Serving as the regional head from 2018, Mr Agorhom cited a lack of support from influential members of the party as one of the hurdles he encountered in managing the regional administration.

During a press briefing before the NPP Greater Accra regional elections, he admitted that he did not receive the necessary backing to efficiently carry out his duties. "Unfortunately, I didn’t get the support of the elders of the party. That made my administration quite a difficult one," he stated. As a Dangbe member, Mr Agorhom emphasized the significance of the indigenous Ga-Adangbe community in the region's NPP organization and mobilization efforts.

He pointed out that the limited support from key party figures hindered his ability to effectively manage the region's affairs, stating, "This is a region made up of, you know, the Ga-Adangbes. I happen to be a Dangbe. The kind of support I needed to get from the key members of the party in the region was not forthcoming, so to say. That made the whole work quite difficult for me."
