‘May India continue to progress with strength, democracy’: CJI Surya Kant extends Independence Day greeting

Chief Justice of India Surya Kant conveyed Independence Day greetings on Saturday, expressing hope for India's continued progress while upholding democracy, the rule of law, equality and constitutional principles. The Chief Justice emphasized India's aspiration to move forward towards a stronger and brighter future.

On the occasion of Independence Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi hoisted the National Flag at the Red Fort, accompanied by a 21-Gun Salute. The ceremonial battery, consisting of indigenous 105mm Light Field Guns, was operated by the 1721 Field Battery (Ceremonial). The CJI criticized the Bar Council for taking a stand against protesters during his address.

In his speech, Prime Minister Modi expressed confidence in India becoming a developed nation by 2047 and urged citizens to work towards realizing the dream of Viksit Bharat. He highlighted the importance of big dreams, stating that a nation achieves its goals when it moves forward driven by dreams, resolve, and inherent strength. Small dreams, he said, will no longer suffice; instead, citizens must dream big, as big dreams expand thinking and broaden the horizons of vision.
