Lindsay Clancy murder trial: prosecutors revive theory of faked suicide attempt

In the Lindsay Clancy murder trial, prosecutors have revived the theory that Clancy faked a suicide attempt after allegedly strangling her three children. The defense claims that Clancy suffered from postpartum psychosis, while prosecutors argue she acted intentionally and should be held criminally responsible. Internet searches on the family computer suggest Clancy sought information on suicide methods, psychiatric medications, detox programs, and mania in the months leading up to the killings.

Clancy's cellphone also revealed searches for "can you treat a sociopath?" and notes expressing concerns about depression, exhaustion, and her relationship with her youngest child. On the day of the murders, Clancy reportedly took her older children to build a snowman and texted her former-husband about take-out, before allegedly strangling her children with exercise bands.

Prosecutors argue her actions, particularly in sending her husband out for take-out and procuring medicines, indicate she planned the killings. However, her defense team argues Clancy was a mother struggling to cope with bipolar disorder and postpartum depression, and may have snapped under the influence of postpartum psychosis.
