Kingdom Hearts 4 finally has a release window, if not quite a firm release date

Kingdom Hearts 4 is set to release in late 2027, although the exact date is not yet confirmed. This release window was revealed during Disney's D23 2026 showcase, which also announced a new Pixar Coco-themed world and an animated Kingdom Hearts series. The timeline places the game on track to launch on Nintendo Switch 2, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC around the series' 25th Western anniversary.

This is the first time Square Enix has provided a firm release window for the game, as previous updates have only reassured fans that development is on track without specifying a completion date. The game will commence the Lost Master Arc, continuing the story of Kingdom Hearts 3 and primarily taking place in Quadratum, a large, realistic hub city reminiscent of Tokyo.

In a recent statement, Square Enix addressed allegations of AI-generated content in the promotion of Kingdom Hearts Collection 1-3, asserting that all assets were created by their development team without the use of generative AI, with the problems stemming from human error.
