Kingdom Hearts 4 Release Date and Anime Announced at D23

Disney+ and the Disney Channel will soon bring to life an anime TV series based on the popular Kingdom Hearts video game franchise. This announcement comes as part of D23, Disney's annual fan event currently taking place in Anaheim, California. The series, a first of its kind, will premiere on Disney+'s streaming platform and the Disney Channel.

Kingdom Hearts, a massive franchise by Square Enix, follows a young boy named Sora as he embarks on adventures accompanied by Donald Duck and Goofy. This series features numerous recurring Disney characters, including Mickey Mouse and various Disney Villains.

The new anime series will reimagine the iconic Kingdom Hearts adventure with a fresh story, expanding the universe while celebrating the beloved characters that have captivated millions of fans worldwide. The series will be developed by Disney in collaboration with video game creator Tetsuya Nomura and Square Enix.

Furthermore, at D23, Disney revealed that the next installment in the Kingdom Hearts video game series, Kingdom Hearts 4, will be released late in 2027. Disney has also confirmed that the Kingdom Hearts franchise is now a billion-dollar franchise. The timeline for the Kingdom Hearts anime TV series has not been announced yet.
