The National Union of Teachers' Protection (NUTP) claimed that the Ministry of Education (KPM) misinterpreted their presence during a briefing session last June as endorsing the implementation of the School Student Protection Agreement. NUTP President Aminuddin Awang stated that the session aimed to educate on various major initiatives related to learning, safety, and student welfare, not just the police-related matter.

He noted that attending such events is often to challenge rather than agree. Despite their attendance, NUTP did not agree to the pledge. In the session, they explicitly said they disagreed if any pledge was involved, but the speaker continued anyway. NUTP has requested a follow-up meeting with KPM to gain further clarification once the guidelines are released.

However, the ministry often delays the set dates. They prefer to continue discussing with KPM before planning further actions. Previously, Fadhlina Sidek, the Education Minister, assured on Facebook that the police measure was not intended to solely burden teachers with student safety or turn them into scapegoats.
