Iran defiant on strait as Trump tells Americans to accept high gas prices

Iran defiantly maintained control over the Strait of Hormuz despite President Donald Trump's assertion that the U.S. should accept defeat in the ongoing conflict. In a statement posted on X, Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi declared that the strait would only be opened and closed at Iran's discretion, vowing to continue enforcing the blockade as long as the U.S. and its allies did not acknowledge the reality of defeat.

Trump, in his critique of Tehran, labeled Iran as "very evil" and warned Americans to prepare for persistent high fuel prices resulting from the war. However, progress towards peace talks and the resumption of oil tanker traffic through the strategic waterway remained stagnant, with no indication that the warring parties were moving toward ending the conflict that was instigated by the U.S. and Israel on February 28.
