‘I take the peaceful path’: Anwar dismisses Khairy’s claim of rift with Zahid

Melaka, August 15 - Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has firmly asserted that his relationship with Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi remains strong and positive. Former Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin's assertion that their relationship has deteriorated, according to Anwar, is merely his personal viewpoint.

Anwar, who champions a peaceful approach, highlighted this contrast with Khairy's more confrontational perspective. Speaking at the 2026 PKR National Congress, Anwar praised Ahmad Zahid for his role in helping form the Unity Government following the 15th General Election. He thanked Ahmad Zahid and Umno for their contributions in establishing the Unity Government at an early stage.

Earlier, Khairy had claimed that trust between Anwar and Ahmad Zahid had reached its lowest point since the Unity Government's inception in 2022, attributing this decline to escalating tensions between BN and PH, especially after BN's decision to collaborate with PN in the Negeri Sembilan State Election. The Prime Minister emphasized that any disagreements within a party or between parties forming the Unity Government could be resolved through dialogue and a peaceful approach.
