Highlights of PM’s Red Fort speech: ‘Saptdhara – Seven streams for reform’

On the 80th Independence Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the celebrations at the Red Fort in Delhi, marking a historic moment as Vande Mataram was sung for the first time at the venue. The Prime Minister outlined his vision of transforming India into a 'Viksit Bharat' by 2047, emphasizing the need for seven key reforms to achieve this goal.

These reforms include manufacturing, food production and processing, technology and innovation, seamless connectivity, defence measures, a green and blue economy, and soft power measures such as yoga and tourism.

Progress has been made in recent years, with internet usage increasing by 4% and digital transactions rising by 100%. Direct water supply and gas connections have been provided, and critical infrastructure like rail networks have seen significant improvements. The country now boasts 106 GW of solar energy capacity and has electrified 100% of its rail network within a decade. Nuclear power generation targets have been set, aiming for 100 GW by 2047.

The Prime Minister highlighted the importance of self-reliance and critical minerals, energy security, and data centres in India's future. Over 1.45 crore households now have access to piped gas, up from just 70 cities before 2014. India maintains strong Free Trade Agreements with more than 40 nations and has a thriving seafood industry.

To achieve the 'Viksit Bharat' goals, the Prime Minister outlined seven reform objectives, known as the Saptadhara. These focus on manufacturing power, food production, technology, seamless connectivity, defence, a green and blue economy, and soft power measures. The banking sector is expected to flourish, with Indian banks aiming for top global rankings.

The youth are identified as the highest beneficiaries of these reforms, with a substantial innovation fund allocated for their development. Efforts are being made to make India naxal-free and to establish a civil defence network.

The Prime Minister urged political parties to support the women’s quota bill, emphasizing the importance of women's empowerment. He extended greetings to the nation on the 80th Independence Day, reflecting on the legacy of the freedom fighters and the role of youth in shaping India's future.
