Good governance must underpin every government, says Hamzah

Wawasan president Hamzah Zainudin has emphasized that good governance should serve as the foundation of any government, rather than being merely a political slogan. According to him, the Reset agenda he supports is not simply about changing the government, but correcting how the nation plans its economy, education, national unity, and public welfare.

The Reset movement, announced by Hamzah on June 13, will be spearheaded by Wawasan, formerly known as Parti Cinta Malaysia. This political vehicle aims to foster political cooperation with various factions and like-minded parties under the "New National Consensus" narrative.

Hamzah outlined three key pillars of the Reset agenda. The first pillar is the establishment of a common goal to build a more advanced and better-organized country. The second pillar is shared prosperity, which cannot be measured solely by economic growth figures but must translate into tangible improvements in people's daily lives, including access to food, financial stability, and secure housing.

The third pillar, "compassionate governance," extends the concept of good governance by incorporating a humane element. Hamzah stressed that good governance should not be deemed unnecessary, but rather a basic requirement that should not be questioned. Through this approach, the government should not treat the wealthy, middle class, and poor in isolation, but create a system where every group feels protected and secure.

Hamzah emphasized that the rich should assist those in need, while the government should explore ways to uplift the poor, ensuring that all citizens can live peacefully in their beloved nation.
