‘Give time to remedy ASDD, uncollectible elector forms’

Civil society groups seeking a 15-day buffer period for electors classified as ASDD (Asylum Seeking Deemed Deceased) and uncollectible to seek remedies before the Draft Electoral Roll is published. They have called for an online option for name inclusion, a rescheduled publication date for the draft roll from August 17 to August 31, strict adherence to prescribed procedures, restoration of wrongly omitted voter names, and preservation of previous records.

The groups, Adalah and Aseem, have emphasized the fairness of allowing those who have voted in previous elections to retain their status and the need for a clear appellate process. The organizations have questioned the misuse of Form 6 as a substitute for proper deletion, appeal, and restoration procedures. The Special Intensive Revision phase concluded on August 10, leaving over 73 lakh individuals classified as uncollectible.

Activists argued that Booth Level Officers' inability to collect enumeration forms does not justify attributing permanence or death to the elector, as they may have been temporarily unavailable or relocated within the same locality.
