Gachagua: I need 90% of Nakuru votes to become president

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has revealed that he requires nearly 90% of Nakuru's votes to win the presidency in the 2027 General Election. During the launch of a Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) office in Nakuru, Gachagua positioned Nakuru as a crucial county in Kenya's electoral landscape. He targeted 10 out of 11 parliamentary seats in Nakuru for the DCP, leaving one for a contest with President William Ruto's United Democratic Alliance (UDA).

Gachagua aimed to secure the majority of other elective positions in the county, including the governorship, senatorial seat, woman representative position, and Members of the County Assembly seats. Out of the 55 ward representative positions, he sought DCP to win at least 45. Gachagua also launched a harsh critique of Nakuru leaders, particularly Governor Susan Kihika and Nakuru Town West MP Samuel Arama, who he accused of orchestrating an attack on his convoy.

The attacker's vehicles were damaged, and the assailants used stones, axes, and other crude weapons. Gachagua further accused police officers of failing to intervene during the incident, questioning their inaction. Despite the attack, Gachagua vowed not to be deterred and promised to boost his political activities in Nakuru, emphasizing the county's vast voting population.

The former Deputy President assured that the DCP will expand its grassroots operations across the county in preparation for the 2027 elections.
