Dr. Anthony Fauci declines request to appear before a second Senate panel after GOP contempt vote

Dr. Anthony Fauci has declined to appear voluntarily before a second Senate panel after Republican members of the Homeland Security Committee voted to hold him in contempt of Congress. This decision comes after a contentious July 29 hearing in which Fauci invoked his Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination 100 times. Republican Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky, who chairs the committee, has accused Fauci of misleading the public during the pandemic and called for his prosecution and imprisonment.
