Church leaders must stay non-partisan, avoid political endorsements — Cleric

Dr. Oluwaseye Yomi-Sholoye, founder of The New Seraph Evangelical Ministries Worldwide and Iya Aladura General, has called for non-partisanship among religious leaders in Nigeria. During the eighth Night of Divine Experience in Ogun State, she warned against using the pulpit for political endorsements, emphasizing that the church should focus on proclaiming biblical truths, advocating for justice, and offering spiritual guidance.

Yomi-Sholoye stressed that religious leaders must preserve the spiritual integrity of their communities, remaining impartial during election periods when political interests often try to influence faith communities. She highlighted that the pulpit should not become a platform for partisan campaigns or party propaganda, but rather a place for speaking truth to power and shepherding the community with fairness and impartiality.

Additionally, she cautioned against vote-buying and other forms of voter inducement, urging citizens to make informed electoral decisions based on competence and proven leadership records. Yomi-Sholoye urged eligible voters in Osun State to thoroughly examine candidates' past administrative performance, public leadership history, and proposed plans for the state, evaluating them based on their capacity to govern effectively and deliver meaningful development.
