Blue Jays put Vladimir Guerrero Jr. on injured list with concussion

Toronto Blue Jays have placed first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. on the seven-day injured list on Saturday due to a concussion. Guerrero left Friday's 3-1 victory over the New York Yankees after taking a blow to the head while sliding into third base. Yankees shortstop George Lombard Jr. attempted to leap over a sliding Guerrero, with his knee and thigh hitting Guerrero's head, causing his helmet to fly off.

Guerrero returned to score the go-ahead run but winced when he crossed the plate. He was replaced by Charles McAdoo in the seventh inning. Manager John Schneider noted Guerrero had a mild headache, which persisted on Saturday. Guerrero, a six-time all-star, was batting .263 with seven home runs and 46 RBIs at the time of the injury.

To accommodate his absence, outfielder Daz Cameron was added to the roster for Saturday's game against the Yankees. Right-hander Lazaro Estrada was designated for assignment to make room for Guerrero on the 40-man roster. Additionally, left-handed pitcher Ricky Tiedemann was called up from triple-A Buffalo, while right-hander Chase Lee was sent to the Bisons.
