Bauchi police deploy personnel ahead of August 17 LG elections

Bauchi State Police Command has announced increased security deployment across the state in anticipation of the 2026 local government elections set for August 17. Commissioner of Police Sani-Omolori Aliyu assured residents of robust security measures prior, during, and post-polling. The command unveiled a comprehensive security plan to ensure a peaceful, credible, and smooth election across all 20 Local Government Areas.

SP Nafiu Habib revealed that personnel have been strategically positioned to protect lives, property, and electoral materials throughout the electoral period. The police cautioned against electoral violence, ballot box snatching, thuggery, vote buying and selling, voter intimidation, and any disruption of the electoral process. Any culpable individuals, including sponsors and accomplices, irrespective of status or political affiliation, would face arrest and prosecution.

Aliyu emphasized the need for neutrality, professionalism, and law-abiding conduct among the deployed officers and security personnel. He instructed them to respect citizens' rights and abide strictly by the law during the election. The police commissioner urged citizens to exercise their right to vote peacefully and to report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station or through the command's emergency lines.
