Aspiring Oti NPP Women’s Organiser calls for new force in leadership

Olivia Yawa Aglago, a hopeful member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Ghana's Oti region, is urging for a new leadership structure within the party's women's division. Ms. Aglago believes that a more resolute and visible leadership can help revitalise the women's wing and bolster the NPP's prospects in the 2028 general elections.

According to her, the women's wing in her region has struggled in recent years due to a lack of strong, consistent leadership capable of galvanising grassroots supporters and making the party more appealing to a broader electorate.

She emphasized that women are a crucial force in grassroots mobilisation and that reinforcing leadership within the women's wing is vital for fostering unity, credibility, and electoral momentum. Ms. Aglago urged the party to lead the women's wing with increased dedication, strategic organisation, and a clear emphasis on community engagement and outreach.

She stressed that successful women's leadership should encompass more than just election mobilisation; it should involve ongoing engagement with communities and other stakeholders.

The aspiring Women's Organiser cited her prior experience in party organisation as a potential asset, expressing hope that delegates would trust her background and consider her for another term. Her motivation stems from a desire to bolster the party's grassroots presence in the Oti region and contribute to a comprehensive strategy aimed at securing victory for the NPP in the 2028 elections.

Ms. Aglago called on delegates and supporters to back a leadership approach that is bold, cohesive, and results-driven, arguing that a renewed strategy is necessary to make the NPP more competitive in the Oti region.
