Two women in dock for allegedly duping retiree in Perak out of RM120,000 over fake tax arrears

IPOH, August 14 — Two women, Noorfarah Surina Ahmad, 42, and Nurfalah Noordin, 33, appeared before the Magistrate’s Court, charged with three counts of defrauding a 60-year-old retiree, Koay Kuang Hew, of around RM120,000. Allegedly, the women falsely claimed they could assist the retiree in clearing his tax arrears, a claim which was false.

The duo allegedly induced Koay into giving them the money through three transactions on April 10, April 14, and June 4 this year, allegedly carried out at Wisma Hasil, Jalan Tambun, in Kinta district. Charged under Section 420 of the Penal Code in conjunction with Section 34 of the same Code, which carries a potential prison term of up to 10 years, a fine, and whipping, their bail was set at RM4,500 with one surety for each accused, with the next court appearance scheduled for September 24.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Zarris Sofea Zainudin represented the prosecution, while Izzat Fakhri Halimi and Intan Shafini Mior Shahrin stood in for Noorfarah Surina and Nurfalah respectively.
