In 2026, Deutsche Bank released its annual global salary rankings, converting all figures into US dollars to account for differences in goods and services across cities. The report, which is based on crowdsourced data, has observed significant fluctuations in inflation, growth, prices, and exchange rates since its inception in 2012. One consistent trend has been the increasing cost of living in the United States, while Japan has become comparatively less expensive.

The top 10 highest-paying cities globally were dominated by European and American cities. Europe claimed five spots on the list, with Zurich and Geneva leading the charge. However, wage differences varied significantly across the region. On the other hand, American cities continued to dominate the list, with San Francisco just behind Zurich at second place.

Asian cities, while primary economic hubs, did not fare as well in terms of salary rankings. Tokyo, as one of the world's leading economic centers, only ranked 39th out of 69 surveyed cities, with an average monthly salary of $2,394. In contrast, cities like Singapore led the region with a net monthly salary of $3,975, while cities such as Bengaluru, Mumbai, Delhi, Bangkok, Manila, and Jakarta had net earnings below $1,000 per month.

The global top 10 ranked cities and their corresponding monthly average salaries are as follows: Zurich ($8,363), San Francisco ($7,601), Geneva ($7,444), Boston ($6,258), New York ($5,434), Luxembourg ($5,196), Chicago ($4,984), Copenhagen ($4,703), Amsterdam ($4,554), and Los Angeles ($4,480).
