Russian shrapnel drone strikes Smila apartment building, injuring five — photo

A Russian drone armed with shrapnel missiles targeted a high-rise apartment complex in Smila, Ukraine on August 14, injuring five individuals, according to Ihor Taburets, the head of the Cherkasy Oblast Military Administration. Medics attended to all five victims, though they chose not to seek further medical care. The residents who were present at the time had evacuated the building.

Firefighters swiftly controlled the resulting fires, although one part of the structure sustained substantial damage. Emergency services continued to operate at the scene. Russian forces also launched a similar attack on Cherkasy on May 24, when a drone struck a high-rise apartment building, igniting a fire on floors five through nine.

The incident resulted in 11 injuries, including two children, and three individuals were hospitalized. Additionally, a Russian cruise missile damaged an inactive farm in the Zolotonosha district the same night, with no casualties reported.
