PTPTN 'ghost' returns as Kamil proposes loan waivers; wants 300-litre Budi95 quota reinstated

In Malaysia, the PKR Youth wing (AMK) has called for the monthly Budi Madani RON95 (BUDI95) fuel quota to be increased to 300 litres and 350 litres for those with higher mobility needs. This proposal is based on usage data and takes into account lower global oil prices and the country's fiscal capacity, according to AMK chief Muhammad Kamil Ahmad Munim.

Munim emphasized that the AMK is not seeking unlimited subsidies but rather a policy that considers the realities of people's lives, especially during times of subsidy reform. He stated, "We are not asking for unlimited subsidies. We are asking for a policy that understands the realities of people's lives because subsidy reform must go hand in hand with reforms that benefit the people."

"If the people are asked to make sacrifices, they have the right to see dividends from those sacrifices," Munim added in his policy speech at the AMK National Congress held at the Melaka International Trade Centre (MITC) in Ayer Keroh, Melaka. He also advocated for strengthening the Bumiputera empowerment policy to ensure that the next generation is not merely protected but has the capacity to become owners in strategic areas such as housing, property, shares, companies, intellectual property, and technology.

Munim stressed that Malay youths must acquire skills in artificial intelligence (AI), semiconductors, green technology, biotechnology, aerospace, engineering, and cybersecurity. "We do not want Malay youths to merely be users of technology created by others. We want them to be creators," he concluded.
