Police probe claim 12-year-old boy chased by Hilux in Pasir Gudang

PASIR GUDANG: Authorities are probing allegations that a 12-year-old boy was pursued and chased by a Toyota Hilux while walking home from school on Tuesday. According to his father, a trader, the incident unfolded as his son and friends made their way home. The father posted on his Threads account, chompchomp_pasta, that his son encountered the Hilux following him and his friends from behind, from the multipurpose hall until near the Taman Megah Ria mosque.

The frightened boy urged his friends to scatter, but the Hilux continued to chase him in a circular pattern. Thankfully, a nasi campur trader spotted the situation and encouraged the boy to approach her and sit with her. However, the Hilux halted near the woman's residence, where a man and his family emerged before the vehicle departed.

The father recounted that his son alertedly contacted his mother, who promptly arrived at the scene upon receiving a call from the father. The trader relayed to the father that two girls had previously been targeted by a similar black Hilux, with the woman assisting them in those instances as well. When questioned about seeing anyone inside the Hilux, the boy claimed there was a woman in a headscarf and sunglasses, though he could not make out their faces due to the dark interior.

The trader emphasized that the woman captured photographs of the boy and his companion. The father, however, regretted not noting the vehicle's registration number, as his son was too panicked. The Seri Alam police chief, Assistant Commissioner Mohd Sohaimi Ishak, revealed that the police received a report from the boy at 4:45pm on Tuesday.

The incident was brought to their attention through a post on the chompchomp_pasta account. The authorities are treating the matter seriously and are currently investigating further, including the identification of witnesses and determining the motive behind the incident. The police have also intensified monitoring in the area to ensure the safety and well-being of residents.
