PKR Youth calls for faster reforms, less compromise with former rivals

PKR Youth has urged the government to cease compromising with former political rivals in the name of stability and instead focus on crucial reforms. Deputy chief Nabil Halimi stated that the once-opposing parties have demonstrated their true intentions by prioritizing power over unity, even cooperating with the opposition against their partners in the unity government.

They are prepared to betray their allies and become obsessed with Perikatan Nasional, which has consistently attacked and accused PKR of betraying the Malays. Nabil questioned why the youth should continue to think about stability with these parties and why they should continue compromising. He called for the government to use the remaining time in its mandate to expedite long-desired institutional reforms, such as separating the roles of the attorney-general and public prosecutor, imposing a two-term limit on the prime minister, introducing a political financing act, and revising the Universities and University Colleges Act 1971 (AUKU).

Nabil emphasized that the PKR Youth must actively drive and monitor the reform agenda, and if parties oppose these measures in Parliament, the public should see their true colors. He also stated that PKR Youth is determined to address the party's weaknesses, reconnect with the people, and rebuild confidence in the party to ensure the reform agenda can continue.

Nabil made it clear that the youth wing aims to support Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for a second term as prime minister so Malaysia's economic recovery and reform agenda can proceed, while also maintaining PKR's leading role in governing the country.
