PKR must look in the mirror, not blame voters, says Youth chief

MELAKA, Aug 14 — Angkatan Muda Keadilan (AMK) chief Muhammad Kamil Ahmad Munim has urged PKR to reflect on its performance following the recent state elections, rather than blaming voters for its defeats. Kamil stated that while election victories should boost confidence, defeats should serve as an opportunity for the party to introspect and address its weaknesses, while identifying the reasons why some people remain unconvinced by the party.

In his policy speech at the AMK National Congress in Melaka, Kamil emphasized that the recent state election results must be viewed with courage and not blamed on the people for not choosing PKR. He stressed that voters do not owe any party their votes; it is the party's responsibility to provide explanations. Kamil called for PKR to provide better answers to narratives created by certain quarters attempting to instill fear among voters by playing on concerns related to Malays and Islam under Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim's leadership.

He warned that failing to address these concerns would allow others to fill the void with fear-based narratives. Kamil stressed that PKR must offer a "politics of confidence" to ensure Malay interests and Islam's position remain protected in a fair and diverse Malaysia.
