Accept ‘bitter reality’ about reforms, PKR Youth chief tells party

PKR Youth chief Kamil Munim urged the party to accept the "bitter reality" of championing reforms while in government, contrasting it sharply with the opposition. He emphasized that this difference necessitates a reassessment of PKR's performance and a reevaluation of its political strategy.

Munim's remarks came during the party's Wanita and Youth congresses, where he called for a return to the party's core principles and a reinforcement of its grassroots machinery. He stressed that mere popularity is insufficient to secure public support and win elections; instead, the party must actively win over the people, starting at the grassroots level.

The Sabah, Johor, and Negeri Sembilan elections highlighted significant weaknesses in the party's grassroots efforts, a problem Munim believes must be addressed. He argued that the congresses should provide a forum for constructive criticism, suggestions, and advice aimed at improving the party.

PKR's performance in these elections was poor, securing only one seat each in Sabah and Johor and two in Negeri Sembilan. Munim's stance underscores the need for PKR to rectify these shortcomings and adapt its approach to better serve the public's interest.
