PKR lacks leader to match Onn Hafiz in Johor, says youth chief

PKR Youth Chief Kamil Munim has criticized the party for lacking a leader capable of matching Johor Menteri Besar Onn Hafiz Ghazi. Speaking at the PKR wing's congress, Kamil emphasized the need for PKR to understand current political developments and issues that matter to the public. He pointed out that the Barisan Nasional's landslide victory in Johor, led by Onn Hafiz, should prompt PKR to reflect on its shortcomings in the recent elections.

"Onn Hafiz won big in Johor. This is the bitter reality that we have to swallow," Kamil stated. "He won handsomely in Johor because we failed to produce a figure and leader who could stand on equal footing with him in the state." PKR secured only eight out of the 56 seats in last month's Johor state election, while Barisan Nasional won 48.

Kamil also highlighted the importance of understanding current political developments, using an example of PAS ulama council information chief Nor Hamzah's call for Muslim voters to help PKR reach Putrajaya to abolish gambling, following the Federal Court's rejection of Kedah's bid to overturn a ruling that barred it from refusing to renew licenses for pool betting and lottery operators.
