3 injured, 4 motorcycles damaged as Farmers, Herders Clash in Niger

At least three individuals sustained injuries in a dispute between farmers and herders in the Kataeregi community, situated within the Katcha Local Government Area of Niger State. According to Daily Trust, the altercation was provoked by a disagreement over farmland between certain farming communities and a herders' settlement in the region.

The spokesman for the Niger State Police Command, SP Wasiu Abiodun, confirmed the occurrence to Daily Trust. He named the injured individuals as Tukur Liti, Ali Liti, and Alhaji Ibrahim. Abiodun stated that a group of youths from Emitsowa, Emiyagi, Emiworo, Emisheshi, and Kakanpangi communities assaulted a herders' settlement in Kakanpangi, driven by accusations of misconduct and disputes over farmland boundaries.

The youths were reportedly led by Moh’d Yamiyagi. According to Abiodun, four motorbikes were also destroyed during the clash. Abiodun reported that the Kataeregi Divisional Police Headquarters dispatched personnel to the area, and the injured were transported to a hospital for medical attention. He further noted that the police's intervention facilitated the restoration of peace to the region.

The police spokesperson emphasized that the incident is currently under investigation at the Kataeregi Division, promising to provide additional updates as they become available.
