Osborne to finance, Kahlon to health in B.C. cabinet shuffle: Eby

VANCOUVER - B.C. Premier David Eby has reorganized his cabinet in response to Finance Minister Brenda Bailey's announcement of a cancer diagnosis. Health Minister Josie Osborne will assume the responsibilities of Finance Minister, while Jobs Minister Ravi Kahlon will take on the Health Ministry portfolio. Bailey, who disclosed an early-stage, treatable cancer and plans to return to work in October, will step down from the Jobs portfolio.

Premier Eby stated that Bailey will undergo six weeks of treatment and assured that she remains committed to her role, returning to her previous duties promptly. Energy Minister Adrian Dix will temporarily assume Bailey's position in the Jobs and Economic Growth Ministry during her cancer treatment. The premier emphasized that Bailey's early detection of the cancer and its treatability have resulted in a very positive prognosis.
