NLP open to government, opposition alliances ahead of 2027

The National Liberal Party (NLP) has expressed its willingness to collaborate with either the opposition or the government before the 2027 general election, as announced by party leader Dr. Muli during a large political rally at Kitui Stadium. Dr. Muli emphasized that the NLP would not beg for political accommodation and was open to negotiations with all parties but would only join a political formation that prioritized the interests of Ukambani.

The party aimed to remain an independent bargaining force during the election, stating that they would neither dissolve their political identity nor blindly follow any individual politician. Dr. Muli also confirmed his intention to contest the Kitui Central parliamentary seat on the NLP ticket in 2027. Despite his respect for Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, Dr. Muli expressed concern over the treatment of the former Vice-President by political opponents, fearing he would face difficulties if the same treatment were extended to him.

His remarks were met with enthusiastic support from the crowd. Dr. Muli clarified that engaging the government should not be construed as surrender, as residents still needed development with only one year left until the next general election. He emphasized that his party would continue to engage the government and Linda Mwananchi (voice of the people) to benefit the people.

The NLP delegates resolved that they would work with either opposition or government parties, but would not beg for acceptance and would go alone if their interests and those of Ukambani were not secured.
