Maanzo urges Sifuna to have IEBC officials accompany him in his rallies

Makueni Senator Dan Maanzo has urged his Nairobi counterpart, Edwin Sifuna, to bring IEBC officials along during his campaign rallies. While praising Sifuna's ability to draw large crowds, Maanzo warned that these numbers may not necessarily result in votes. He suggested that Sifuna could set up a tent specifically for IEBC officials to register supporters as voters.

The senator believes that this approach could help turn his rallies' attendees into registered voters, which would be advantageous for his presidential campaign. Sifuna, a candidate in the 2027 General Election, has been holding rallies in various locations, including Homa Bay, where his movement, Linda Mwananchi, is scheduled to hold a series of events on August 16, 2026.

Despite concerns from government-aligned politicians about potential disruptions, Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo has assured the team that security measures will be in place, preventing any interference with their activities. The Linda Mwananchi movement has also pledged to continue with its planned rallies, asserting that it will not be intimidated by its rivals in the Orange Democratic Movement.

These events are scheduled ahead of the second phase of IEBC's mass voter registration exercise, which had already seen around 2.6 million new voters registered in its first phase.
