Kofi Amoah challenges Mahama to pursue Ghanaian officials linked to Berko corruption case

Businessman Dr Kofi Amoah has called on President John Mahama to direct the Attorney-General to investigate and prosecute Ghanaian officials allegedly involved in the corruption case linked to former Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) Managing Director Asante Kwaku Berko. In a social media post, Amoah pointed to the recent US federal conviction of Berko as a rare chance for Ghana to show its commitment to combating corruption.

He urged Mahama to take action, emphasizing that the country has the necessary institutions such as the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) and the Special Prosecutor's Office, but corruption continues to deprive citizens of resources needed for national development. Amoah challenged Mahama to prove that the government's anti-corruption campaign would apply equally to those from all political affiliations, particularly in the case of officials linked to the Berko case, who appear to be associated with the current ruling party.
