Kebbi attack: IGP Disu orders intensified hunt for perpetrators

Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Disu has directed a more vigorous search for those accountable for the assault that occurred along the Rafin Makuku route in Sakaba Local Government Area of Kebbi State, resulting in the deaths of ten police officers and civilians. This directive was communicated in a statement released on Thursday by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu.

Notably, the IGP had dispatched a delegation, headed by Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Operations, Umar Shehu-Nadada, to Kebbi State on Tuesday to converse with the state government and other stakeholders regarding the security predicament. The delegation was also assigned the responsibility of strengthening ongoing efforts to deter further attacks, safeguard vulnerable communities, and enhance security in the impacted regions.

The delegation conveyed Disu's distress over the loss of life and reiterated the Nigeria Police Force's dedication to bringing the perpetrators to justice. The statement affirmed that Disu had directed the utilization of existing operational and intelligence resources to pinpoint, pursue, and capture the culprits. It also emphasized that the police delegation reiterated the Force's pledge to support the families of the fallen officers in accordance with its welfare guidelines.

The statement affirmed that the police would persist in collaborating with the Kebbi State Government, other security agencies, and local communities to bolster security and shield lives and property in the state.
