Is California next? Geophysicist who predicted Colombia earthquake issues dire warning, ‘We are worried’

Geophysicist Stefan Burns has warned that California may be the next location to experience a significant earthquake, following a magnitude 7.4 quake in Colombia and two earthquakes in Venezuela. Burns noted that the Golden State is "super overdue" for a major tremor, as Southern California sits atop multiple fault lines. The Colombian quake left over 200 people dead and has had thousands missing, while another earthquake in Venezuela in June claimed over 6,000 lives.

Burns suggested that California could face risks for up to a year due to the South American earthquake, and the San Andreas fault in Northern California remains a cause for concern.
