President Sheikh Mohamed directs $10 million in aid to Colombia earthquake relief efforts

The UAE has committed $10 million in aid to help Colombia following a devastating 7.4-magnitude earthquake that claimed over 265 lives. President Sheikh Mohamed issued the directive to demonstrate the country's dedication to international relief efforts, according to state news agency Wam. Teams from the UAE are on the ground delivering vital supplies such as medical aid, food, and shelter materials to those affected by the disaster.

Dr Tareq Ahmed Al Ameri, chairman of the UAE Aid Agency, stated that the agency is working diligently to expedite the delivery of assistance in line with the needs on the ground, aimed at alleviating the suffering of the affected population and supporting the early recovery process. The allocation of the aid underscores the UAE's commitment to supporting those impacted by various humanitarian crises, ensuring that aid reaches all affected groups and communities in a timely manner.

President Sheikh Mohamed also spoke with Colombia's newly sworn-in President, Abelardo de la Espriella, extending his condolences to the victims and reaffirming the UAE's solidarity with the Colombian government and people.
