Gesa RCI baharu TH pramatang, kata KJ, kritik PN keluar dewan
Bekas menteri berkata pihak yang buat gesaan patut minta laporan pengurusan dan audit terperinci aset TH yang dipindahkan kepada UJSB.
Former Umno Youth Chief Khairy Jamaluddin believes it is premature for Opposition Party of Nations (PN) members to criticize a newly established Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) on Tabung Haji (TH). Instead, he proposes that those advocating for the RCI should request a comprehensive management report and audit of TH's assets transferred to Urusharta Jamaah Sdn Bhd (UJSB), a special purpose company established by the Finance Ministry.
The report might reveal critical issues, such as assets that are so deteriorated they cannot be restored or a recovery plan that does not work as intended. While some may criticize the proposal as inadequate, suggesting the Pakatan Harapan (PH) has no viable plan, Khairy argues that the alternative is worse. During a recent audio episode on KELUAR SEKEJAP, Isam Isa from BN's Tampin constituency proposed that the RCI investigation encompass the period from 2021 to 2025, as the previous RCI only covered 2014 to 2020.
Kinabatangan BN MP Kurniawan Naim Moktar emphasized that the TH audit should not stop halfway. He requested the RCI to examine UJSB's recovery, asset collection, cash flow, management costs, and the restructuring of sukuk. PH Tawang Jelutong MP RSN Rayer also called for a fresh inquiry to determine accountability for the financial and management issues within the institution.
Khairy further criticized PN members who left the Dewan Rakyat without discussing the report because Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim was absent due to a scheduled elective medical procedure. He stated that Anwar, who is also the Finance Minister, should be present, but the medical procedure couldn't be avoided, leading to the Prime Minister's absence.
"Whether the procedure is elective or not, it still needs to be carried out," Khairy argued. He believed the most sensible and mature course of action was for PN members to remain in the Dewan and participate in the discussion. Muhyiddin Yassin chose to stay and join the debate, even though it might not answer all questions due to Anwar's absence.
However, Khairy noted that the discussion could still demonstrate that all parties—BN, PH, and PN—acknowledge the seriousness of the RCI's report and the need to discuss TH's future.
