Ex-Sindh minister marries woman, later discovers pictures she shared of herself were altered using AI

KARACHI: Former Sindh minister Ghulam Rasool Unnar has accused his ex-wife of using artificial intelligence (AI) technology to alter pictures of herself before their marriage. Unnar sought to register a First Information Report (FIR) against Razia Arbab under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) at a sessions court. He claimed they met through social media and later married in a video call ceremony, with her asking for Rs100,000 as dower.

Unnar noted that she did not reveal her face during the ceremony, but after meeting her in person, he found out that she had deceived him by using filtered and AI-edited pictures. Unnar stated that he separated from his wife and subsequently divorced her, but she continued to post false information and fabricated images on social media.

He also alleged that she was demanding money and sending menacing messages on WhatsApp, warning him that she would share his personal videos or kill him if he did not comply. Seeking a response from the SHO of the Complaint Cell, the Defence police station, and his ex-wife, Additional District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Aslam Sheikh issued notices for their submissions by August 17.
