Samsung taps AI specialists to sharpen semiconductor edge

Han Bo-hyung, a deep-learning and computer-vision expert, has joined Samsung Electronics to bolster the company's artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities. Samsung Electronics stated that these two AI specialists are poised to integrate AI more deeply into semiconductor research and manufacturing processes. Han, a distinguished authority in deep learning and computer vision, will spearhead the creation of AI models specifically designed for semiconductor research and development.

Meanwhile, Hahn Tai-rin, a data-engineering expert, will oversee the development of data that can be directly utilized by AI systems, according to Samsung. The recruitment of these specialists marks Samsung's broader strategy to expand AI applications across critical semiconductor operations, such as chip design, process technology, and manufacturing.

The goal is to enhance development efficiency and productivity. Han possesses a bachelor's and master's degree in computer engineering from Seoul National University, along with a doctorate in computer science from the University of Maryland, as per the university's faculty profile. He previously held positions at Pohang University of Science and Technology.
