Chow Kon Yeow says Penang DAP takes no stance, leaves Cabinet exit motion to delegates

George Town, Aug 14 — Penang DAP has not officially taken a stance on a motion proposing that the party should withdraw from the Cabinet, instead leaving the matter to be decided by its delegates at the DAP Convention on Sunday. Chow Kon Yeow, a central executive committee member of Penang DAP, informed that Penang delegates had been informed about the motions to be discussed and voted upon during the convention.

"Each state has its own method of handling the convention taking place this Sunday," he stated. "For Penang, our state committee met on Wednesday and we adopted an open approach." He clarified that Penang DAP was not taking an official position on the matter. "We are allowing the delegates to make the decision," he told a press conference at the Chief Minister's Office in Komtar, Penang.

The DAP Convention on Sunday is anticipated to serve as a platform for delegates to deliberate and decide on various issues, including the motion concerning DAP's role in the unity government. Chow Kon Yeow, also serving as the Penang Pakatan Harapan chairman, elaborated that the motion specifically revolves around the question of whether DAP will depart from the Cabinet while still backing the unity government.

"The motion concerns whether DAP will leave the Cabinet but continue to support the unity government," he affirmed.
